Inegy (Simvastatin, Ezetimibe)

Inegy combines simvastatin and ezetimibe to treat disorders of lipid metabolism.

• Hypercholesterolemia: reduces low‑density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels.
• Mixed dyslipidemia: improves overall lipid profile by lowering LDL and triglycerides while raising HDL.
• Primary prevention of cardiovascular events: lowers the risk of heart attack and stroke in patients with elevated cholesterol.

• Simvastatin competitively inhibits HMG‑CoA reductase, the key enzyme in hepatic cholesterol synthesis, leading to up‑regulation of LDL receptors and increased clearance of circulating LDL. Ezetimibe selectively blocks the intestinal NPC1L1 transporter, decreasing absorption of dietary and biliary cholesterol. The combined effect results in a greater reduction of plasma LDL‑cholesterol than either agent alone.
