• Miconazole penetrates fungal cell membranes and inhibits the enzyme lanosterol 14α‑demethylase, a key step in ergosterol synthesis. By blocking this pathway, the drug disrupts membrane integrity, leading to increased permeability and ultimately cell death. The localized gel formulation concentrates the effect at the site of infection while minimizing systemic absorption.

Topical application of Miconazole gel may be associated with local and, rarely, systemic adverse reactions.
