Innovair (Formoterol Fumarate Dihydrate, Beclometasone Dipropionate Anhydrous)

Innovair is a combination LABA/ICS inhaler used in the management of chronic respiratory diseases.

• Asthma: improves long‑term control, reduces the frequency of exacerbations, and helps maintain normal activity levels in adults and adolescents.
• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD): maintains lung function, decreases symptom burden, and lowers the risk of flare‑ups in patients with moderate to severe disease.
• Bronchial hyperresponsiveness: reduces airway inflammation and enhances bronchodilation, supporting better symptom control during triggers such as allergens or exercise.

• Formoterol fumarate acts as a long‑acting β2‑adrenergic agonist, binding to β2 receptors on bronchial smooth muscle and inducing relaxation that produces sustained bronchodilation. Beclometasone dipropionate is an inhaled corticosteroid that enters airway cells, binds glucocorticoid receptors and modulates gene transcription, leading to decreased production of inflammatory cytokines, reduced edema and inhibition of immune cell activation. The combined actions provide both immediate airway opening and long‑term anti‑inflammatory control.
