• Levocarnitine facilitates the transport of long‑chain fatty acids across the inner mitochondrial membrane by forming acyl‑carnitine complexes. This enables β‑oxidation of fatty acids within mitochondria, generating acetyl‑CoA for the citric acid cycle and ATP production. By restoring intracellular carnitine pools, it supports cellular energy metabolism, particularly in tissues with high oxidative demand such as heart and skeletal muscle.
