Iomeron (Iomeprol)

Iomeron, an iodinated contrast agent, is employed in imaging procedures that require enhanced radiodensity of vascular, joint, and cerebrospinal fluid spaces.

• Angiography: provides clear visualization of blood vessels for diagnostic and interventional procedures.
• Arthrography: improves contrast of joint spaces to assess cartilage, ligaments and intra‑articular pathology.
• Myelography: delineates the spinal canal and cerebrospinal fluid for evaluation of spinal disorders.

• Iomeprol contains iodine atoms that strongly absorb X‑ray photons. When injected into the vascular, joint, or cerebrospinal fluid compartments, the iodine‑rich solution increases radiodensity of the surrounding tissues, thereby creating a marked contrast between the enhanced area and adjacent structures and allowing high‑resolution imaging of anatomical details.

Iomeron may cause a range of adverse reactions, most of which are mild and transient.

Common Side Effects

• Warmth or flushing sensation at the injection site.
• Nausea or mild vomiting.
• Metallic taste in the mouth.
• Headache.
• Transient hypotension.
• Mild injection‑site pain or bruising.

Serious or Rare Side Effects
