Iomeron (Iomeprol)

Iomeron is an iodinated contrast agent that improves imaging of vascular and musculoskeletal structures during diagnostic procedures.

• Angiography: provides enhanced visualization of blood vessels and arterial anatomy.
• Arthrography: delineates joint spaces, cartilage, and surrounding soft tissues for orthopedic assessment.
• Myelography: improves contrast of the spinal canal and nerve roots during intrathecal imaging.

• Iomeprol contains a high concentration of iodine atoms that strongly absorb X‑ray photons. When injected into the vascular or body cavity, the iodine increases the attenuation of X‑rays passing through the region, creating a marked difference in radiodensity between the contrast‑enhanced area and surrounding tissues. This differential attenuation produces clearer, high‑contrast images that aid in the diagnosis of vascular, joint, and spinal pathologies.

Iomeron may be associated with a range of adverse reactions, most of which are mild and transient.

Common Side Effects

• Warm sensation or flushing: brief feeling of heat during injection.
• Metallic taste: transient metallic flavor in the mouth.

Serious or Rare Side Effects
