Iomeron (Iomeprol)

Iomeron is an iodinated contrast agent used to improve visualization in vascular and tissue imaging procedures.

• Iomeprol contains a high concentration of iodine atoms that strongly attenuate X‑ray photons. When administered, the iodine molecules remain in the vascular and extracellular compartments, increasing the radiodensity of blood vessels and tissues. This heightened attenuation creates a contrast between structures on radiographic, computed‑tomography or fluoroscopic images, allowing clinicians to differentiate anatomical details more clearly.

Adverse reactions to Iomeron can range from mild to severe and should be monitored during and after administration.

Common Side Effects

• Warmth or flushing sensation at the injection site.
• Metallic taste or transient taste alteration.
• Nausea or mild vomiting.
• Headache or mild dizziness.

Serious or Rare Side Effects

• Anaphylactic or severe allergic reaction.
• Acute renal impairment, especially in patients with pre‑existing kidney disease.
