• Iomeprol contains a high concentration of iodine atoms bound to a non‑ionic, low‑osmolality organic molecule. After intravenous, intra‑arterial or intrathecal administration, the iodine distributes in the extracellular fluid, where its high atomic number markedly increases X‑ray attenuation. This creates a radiodense contrast between blood, tissues and surrounding structures, enhancing image quality without interacting with specific cellular receptors or plasma proteins.
