Iomeron (Iomeprol)

Iomeron (iomeprol) is an iodinated contrast agent used in radiographic imaging to improve visualization of vascular and organ structures.

• Iomeprol is a non‑ionic, low‑osmolar iodinated contrast medium that contains multiple iodine atoms which strongly absorb X‑ray photons. After intra‑arterial or intravenous injection, it remains within the vascular and extracellular compartments, raising the radiodensity of blood and interstitial fluids. This increased attenuation creates a clear contrast between vessels, organs and surrounding tissues, allowing detailed imaging. The agent is eliminated unchanged primarily by renal excretion.

Iomeron may be associated with adverse reactions ranging from mild to severe.
