Isopto (Pilocarpine Hydrochloride)

Isopto, a cholinergic agonist eye drop, is used in conditions that require reduction of intra‑ocular pressure or pupil constriction.

• Pilocarpine Hydrochloride acts as a direct muscarinic receptor agonist on the sphincter pupillae muscle. Stimulation of muscarinic receptors causes contraction of the muscle, leading to pupil constriction (miosis) and opening of the trabecular meshwork, which enhances aqueous humor outflow and consequently lowers intra‑ocular pressure.
