Izgrev (Hydrochlorothiazide, Irbesartan)

Izgrev, a combined angiotensin II receptor blocker and thiazide diuretic, is indicated for conditions related to elevated blood pressure.

• Essential hypertension: reduces systolic and diastolic blood pressure in adults with primary hypertension.
• Hypertension requiring combination therapy: provides additive blood pressure control when monotherapy is insufficient.
• Hypertension with fluid retention: promotes diuresis while blocking angiotensin II effects, aiding in volume‑dependent pressure reduction.

• Irbesartan selectively blocks AT1 receptors, preventing angiotensin II from causing vasoconstriction, aldosterone release, and sympathetic activation. Hydrochlorothiazide acts on the distal convoluted tubule to inhibit NaCl reabsorption, increasing urinary sodium and water excretion, which lowers plasma volume. The combined actions result in reduced peripheral resistance and decreased blood volume, producing an additive antihypertensive effect. This synergy allows lower individual doses and improves tolerability.

Like all antihypertensive agents, the irbesartan/hydrochlorothiazide combination may cause adverse reactions.
