Jamesi Novum is a fixed‑dose combination that targets hyperglycaemia in type 2 diabetes mellitus and is used as part of a broader therapeutic strategy.

• Type 2 diabetes mellitus: improves glycaemic control when used with diet and exercise.
• Inadequate control on metformin alone: provides additional glucose‑lowering effect as add‑on therapy.
• Combination therapy with other antidiabetics: enables a simplified regimen for patients requiring multiple agents.

• Metformin decreases hepatic gluconeogenesis and enhances peripheral insulin sensitivity, while Sitagliptin inhibits the dipeptidyl peptidase‑4 (DPP‑4) enzyme, prolonging the activity of incretin hormones (GLP‑1 and GIP). The combined actions increase insulin secretion in a glucose‑dependent manner and reduce post‑prandial glucose excursions, resulting in overall lower blood glucose levels.
