Jimandin (Sitagliptin)

Jimandin is a DPP‑4 inhibitor used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It helps improve glycaemic control through several therapeutic approaches.

• Type 2 diabetes mellitus: lowers fasting and post‑prandial glucose levels when combined with diet and exercise.
• Monotherapy in metformin‑intolerant patients: provides effective glucose control as a single oral agent.

• Sitagliptin selectively inhibits the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase‑4 (DPP‑4), which results in increased circulating levels of the incretin hormones GLP‑1 and GIP. Elevated incretins enhance glucose‑dependent insulin secretion from pancreatic β‑cells and suppress glucagon release from α‑cells, thereby reducing hepatic glucose production and improving post‑prandial glucose control.

• Bullous pemphigoid: autoimmune blistering skin disease.

• Renal impairment: dose adjustment may be required based on eGFR.
• Hepatic impairment: monitor liver function tests regularly.
• History of pancreatitis: avoid use due to risk of recurrence.
• Concomitant insulin or sulfonylureas: increased risk of hypoglycaemia; monitor glucose closely.
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding: safety not established; use only if benefit outweighs risk.
• Store at ambient temperature: keep in the original pack, protect from moisture and direct sunlight.
