Jodid (Potassium Iodide)

Jodid is a thyroid blocking agent that works by saturating the thyroid gland with stable iodine, thereby limiting radioactive iodine uptake.

• Potassium Iodide delivers a high concentration of stable iodide ions that rapidly fill the thyroid gland's iodine pool. This saturation triggers the Wolff‑Chaikoff effect, temporarily inhibiting organification of iodine and preventing the gland from absorbing additional, potentially radioactive, iodine, thus lowering thyroid radiation exposure.

Adverse reactions may occur with oral potassium iodide administration.
