Jokalvemiel (Clotrimazole)

Clotrimazole is used to treat fungal skin infections by targeting the organism’s cell membrane synthesis pathway.

• Clotrimazole inhibits the fungal enzyme lanosterol 14α‑demethylase, a key step in ergosterol synthesis. By blocking this pathway, the drug disrupts the formation of fungal cell membranes, leading to increased membrane permeability and ultimately fungal cell death. This selective action targets fungi while sparing human cells, providing effective topical antifungal activity.
