Kaliumklorid Orifarm is used to replace potassium in conditions where serum potassium is low.

• Potassium chloride dissociates after oral absorption, releasing potassium ions that are taken up by enterocytes and enter the extracellular fluid. The increased extracellular potassium raises serum potassium concentration, correcting hypokalemia and supporting the activity of sodium‑potassium ATPase and other potassium‑dependent cellular processes. It does not act on specific receptors but works through passive diffusion and active transport mechanisms that maintain intracellular‑extracellular potassium gradients essential for nerve impulse transmission and muscle contraction.
