Kalpress Plus (Valsartan, Hydrochlorothiazide)

Kalpress Plus combines an ARB with a thiazide diuretic to manage elevated blood pressure. It is used in the following conditions:

• Hypertension: lowers systolic and diastolic pressure and reduces cardiovascular risk.
• Essential hypertension: provides consistent blood‑pressure control when monotherapy is insufficient.
• Hypertension requiring diuretic therapy: adds diuretic effect to improve fluid balance and further reduce pressure.

• Valsartan selectively blocks the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor, preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone release. Hydrochlorothiazide inhibits sodium‑chloride reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubule, promoting diuresis and decreasing plasma volume. Together, they produce additive reductions in systemic vascular resistance and blood volume, resulting in lowered arterial pressure.

Kalpress Plus may cause a range of adverse reactions. The most frequently reported are generally mild and reversible.
