Kamidam (Aripiprazole)

Aripiprazole is indicated for several psychiatric conditions that involve dysregulation of dopamine and serotonin pathways.

• Schizophrenia: reduces hallucinations, delusions and thought disorder while improving overall social and occupational functioning.
• Bipolar I disorder (manic or mixed episodes): stabilizes mood, decreases the frequency and severity of manic episodes, and helps maintain long‑term mood balance.
• Major depressive disorder (adjunctive): enhances the efficacy of standard antidepressants, leading to greater improvement in depressive symptoms when used as an add‑on therapy.

• Aripiprazole acts as a partial agonist at dopamine D2 receptors and serotonin 5‑HT1A receptors, while antagonizing serotonin 5‑HT2A receptors. This mixed activity modulates dopaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmission, providing antipsychotic effects without full blockade, which contributes to its efficacy across schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and as an adjunct in depression.
