Kanamicina Atb (Kanamycin Monosulphate)

Kanamicina Atb (kanamycin) is used to treat bacterial eye infections caused by susceptible organisms.

• Bacterial conjunctivitis: reduces bacterial load and promotes rapid resolution of infection.
• Bacterial keratitis: inhibits bacterial proliferation in the cornea, aiding healing.
• Corneal ulcer caused by susceptible bacteria: provides bactericidal activity to prevent progression and facilitate tissue repair.

• Kanamycin binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, causing misreading of mRNA and blocking the initiation of protein synthesis. This disruption leads to rapid bacterial cell death, making the drug bactericidal against a broad spectrum of Gram‑negative and some Gram‑positive ocular pathogens.

Kanamicina Atb may cause local and systemic adverse reactions when administered to the eye.
