• Candesartan Cilexetil is a pro‑drug that is converted to candesartan, a selective antagonist of angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptors. By blocking AT1 receptors, it prevents angiotensin II‑mediated vasoconstriction, aldosterone release, and sympathetic activation, leading to vasodilation, reduced sodium retention, and lower blood pressure.
