Oxcarbazepine may cause a range of adverse reactions, from mild to severe.

Common Side Effects

• Dizziness: sensation of light‑headedness or unsteadiness.
• Drowsiness: increased sleepiness or fatigue.
• Headache: mild to moderate cranial pain.
• Nausea: upset stomach or urge to vomit.
• Double vision: transient visual disturbances.
• Fatigue: reduced energy levels.

Serious or Rare Side Effects

• Severe skin reactions: such as Stevens‑Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis.
• Hyponatremia: abnormally low blood sodium levels, potentially causing confusion or seizures.
• Blood dyscrasias: including agranulocytosis or aplastic anaemia.
