Kerafilm (Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid)

Kerafilm, a topical keratolytic preparation, is used for disorders involving abnormal keratin buildup.

• Acne vulgaris: helps to unclog pores and reduce inflammatory lesions.
• Keratosis pilaris: smooths rough, bumpy skin on arms and thighs.
• Hyperkeratotic plaques: softens thickened skin in conditions such as seborrheic dermatitis or ichthyosis.

• Lactic acid acts as an alpha‑hydroxy acid that lowers skin surface pH, promoting desquamation by weakening corneocyte cohesion. Salicylic acid, a beta‑hydroxy acid, penetrates oily follicles and dissolves intercellular lipids, facilitating exfoliation and reducing follicular blockage. Together they enhance epidermal turnover and improve skin texture.

Kerafilm may cause local skin reactions, most of which are mild and reversible.

Common Side Effects

• Skin irritation: mild burning or stinging at the application site.
