• Ibuprofen acts systemically to reduce inflammation and pain, making it useful for several common conditions.
• Pain (mild to moderate): provides relief from headaches, dental pain, musculoskeletal aches and other everyday discomforts.
• Fever: lowers elevated body temperature associated with infections or inflammatory states.
• Arthritis (inflammatory conditions): decreases joint swelling, stiffness and pain in osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

• Ibuprofen exerts its effect by non‑selectively inhibiting cyclooxygenase‑1 (COX‑1) and cyclooxygenase‑2 (COX‑2) enzymes, which blocks the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins. The reduction in prostaglandin synthesis diminishes inflammation, pain signaling, and fever generation at the site of tissue injury or infection.

Common Side Effects

• Stevens‑Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis.
