Kinzalmono (Telmisartan)

Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker, is used to manage conditions related to the renin‑angiotensin system.

• Hypertension: lowers blood pressure and reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack.
• Cardiovascular risk reduction: decreases incidence of major cardiovascular events in high‑risk patients.

• Telmisartan selectively blocks the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor, preventing angiotensin II from binding and activating the receptor. This inhibition reduces vasoconstriction, aldosterone secretion, and sympathetic activation, leading to vasodilation, decreased sodium and water retention, and ultimately lower blood pressure and cardiovascular strain.

Serious or Rare Side Effects

• Angioedema: swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat that may impair breathing.
• Hyperkalemia: elevated potassium levels that can cause cardiac arrhythmias.
• Renal impairment: worsening kidney function, indicated by increased serum creatinine.
• Hepatic injury: signs of liver damage such as jaundice or elevated liver enzymes.
