Kitonail (Ciclopirox)

• Kitonail is an antifungal agent that acts on dermatophyte and yeast infections of the skin and nails.
• Onychomycosis: reduces fungal invasion of the nail plate and promotes clearer nail growth.
• Tinea pedis: alleviates itching, scaling and redness caused by athlete's foot.
• Tinea corporis: clears ring-shaped skin lesions and prevents spread of the infection.

• Ciclopirox interferes with fungal cell membrane synthesis by chelating intracellular metal ions, which disrupts essential enzymatic pathways. This inhibition hampers the production of sterols required for membrane integrity and also impairs intracellular transport mechanisms, leading to fungal cell death.

Ciclopirox may cause local skin reactions when applied.

Common Side Effects

• Dryness or peeling of the skin

Serious or Rare Side Effects

• When using Kitonail, consider the following safety measures.

• Do not apply near eyes or mucous membranes: can cause severe discomfort.
• Keep out of reach of children: accidental ingestion can be harmful.
• Discontinue use and seek medical advice if severe irritation develops.
