Klarifar (Clarithromycin)

Clarithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic used to treat infections of the respiratory tract, sinuses and skin. It is effective against a broad range of Gram‑positive and some Gram‑negative bacteria.

• Community‑acquired pneumonia: reduces bacterial load, improves cough, fever and oxygenation, and accelerates recovery in adult patients.
• Acute bacterial sinusitis: alleviates sinus pressure, nasal discharge and facial pain while promoting rapid eradication of the infecting organisms.
• Skin and soft‑tissue infections: eradicates causative bacteria, reduces erythema and swelling, and supports healing of cellulitis, abscesses and wound infections.

• Clarithromycin binds to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, blocking the translocation step of protein synthesis. By preventing the movement of peptidyl‑tRNA from the A site to the P site, it halts elongation of the nascent peptide chain, leading to bacteriostatic activity against susceptible organisms. The drug’s high affinity for the ribosomal binding site confers a prolonged post‑antibiotic effect and contributes to clinical efficacy.
