Konakion Prima Infanzia is a vitamin K hemostatic agent used in conditions affecting the clotting cascade.

• Prevention of vitamin K deficiency bleeding in newborns: reduces the risk of early and late hemorrhagic disease of the newborn.
• Treatment of vitamin K deficiency: restores normal activity of clotting factors II, VII, IX and X.
• Reversal of anticoagulant therapy: re‑establishes clotting factor function after vitamin K antagonist use.

• Phytomenadione acts as an essential cofactor for the gamma‑carboxylation of glutamic acid residues on clotting factors II, VII, IX and X. This post‑translational modification enables calcium binding, which is required for the activation of these factors and the formation of a functional coagulation cascade, thereby promoting hemostasis.

Common Side Effects

• Injection site pain: mild discomfort at the site of administration.
• Redness at injection site: localized erythema that resolves spontaneously.

Serious or Rare Side Effects
