Lamisil Uno (Terbinafine)

Lamisil Uno, an allylamine antifungal, is indicated for common dermatophyte infections of the skin.

• Tinea pedis: reduces fungal growth and relieves itching and scaling on the feet.
• Tinea corporis: clears ring‑shaped lesions on the body by eradicating the causative fungus.
• Tinea cruris: treats fungal infection of the groin area, improving redness and discomfort.

• Terbinafine inhibits the fungal enzyme squalene epoxidase, a key step in ergosterol synthesis. By blocking this pathway, the drug causes accumulation of squalene, which is toxic to fungal cells, and depletes ergosterol, compromising cell membrane integrity and leading to fungal cell death.

Lamisil Uno may cause local skin reactions and, rarely, systemic effects.

Common Side Effects

• Burning sensation: mild to moderate discomfort at the application site.
• Itching: transient pruritus after use.
• Redness: localized erythema.
• Dryness: skin may become flaky.
• Peeling: superficial desquamation.
• Stinging: brief sharp sensation.

Serious or Rare Side Effects

• Severe allergic reaction: swelling, hives, or difficulty breathing.
• Contact dermatitis: intense rash or blistering.
• Systemic toxicity: rare liver enzyme elevation.
• Hyperpigmentation: persistent darkening of the skin.
• Secondary infection: bacterial infection of the treated area.
• Persistent ulceration: non‑healing skin breakdown.

Before using Lamisil Uno, consider the following safety measures.

• Avoid application on broken skin: do not apply to open wounds or irritated areas.
• Test for sensitivity: perform a small patch test if a history of skin reactions exists.
• Limit use to indicated infections: do not use for viral or bacterial skin conditions.
• Discontinue if severe irritation occurs: stop treatment and seek medical advice.
• Keep away from eyes and mucous membranes: avoid contact with eyes, nose, and mouth.
• Store at ambient temperature: keep in the original container, protect from moisture and heat.

Terbinafine topical has limited systemic interaction potential, but caution is advised with certain co‑administered agents.
