Lansoprazol Cinfa (Lansoprazole)

• Lansoprazol Cinfa is a proton pump inhibitor that lowers gastric acidity in several acid‑related disorders.
• Gastro‑oesophageal reflux disease (GERD): reduces acid exposure and promotes healing of the esophageal lining.
• Peptic ulcer disease: facilitates ulcer healing by suppressing gastric acid production.

• Lansoprazole selectively and irreversibly inhibits the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme (the gastric proton pump) located on the secretory surface of parietal cells. By blocking this final step of acid secretion, it markedly reduces both basal and stimulated gastric acid output, leading to an increase in gastric pH and allowing ulcer healing and symptom control.

Lansoprazol Cinfa may cause a range of adverse reactions, most of which are mild and transient.

• Use cautiously in elderly patients due to higher risk of adverse events.
• Avoid concomitant use with drugs that require acidic gastric pH for absorption (e.g., atazanavir, ketoconazole).
• Monitor for signs of infection, especially Clostridioides difficile, during prolonged treatment.
• Evaluate the need for supplementation of vitamin B12 or magnesium during long‑term use.
• Store at ambient temperature: keep in the original container, protect from moisture and direct sunlight.
