Lanzul (Lansoprazole)

Lansoprazole is indicated for acid‑related gastrointestinal disorders and works by suppressing gastric acid production.

• Gastro‑esophageal reflux disease (GERD): decreases acid exposure, relieving heartburn and regurgitation.
• Peptic ulcer disease: promotes ulcer healing by maintaining a higher gastric pH.
• Helicobacter pylori eradication (in combination therapy): enhances the effectiveness of antibiotics by reducing gastric acidity.
• Erosive esophagitis: facilitates mucosal healing and symptom improvement.

• Lansoprazole irreversibly binds to the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme (gastric proton pump) located on the secretory surface of parietal cells. By inhibiting this final step of acid secretion, it markedly lowers both basal and stimulated gastric acid output, leading to an increased gastric pH and reduced acidity in the stomach.

Adverse reactions may occur with lansoprazole therapy.
