Lapiden (Indapamide)

• Indapamide is used as a thiazide‑like diuretic to manage conditions involving excess fluid or elevated blood pressure.

• Indapamide acts on the distal convoluted tubule of the nephron by inhibiting the Na⁺/Cl⁻ cotransporter. This blockade reduces sodium and chloride reabsorption, leading to increased urinary excretion of water and electrolytes. The resulting diuresis lowers plasma volume and, together with a modest vasodilatory effect, decreases peripheral vascular resistance, contributing to blood‑pressure reduction.
