Laxoberal (Sodium Picosulfate)

Laxoberal, a stimulant laxative, is indicated for conditions affecting bowel motility and preparation.

• Constipation: promotes bowel movements to relieve occasional or chronic constipation.
• Bowel preparation for colonoscopy: clears the colon to enable clear visualization during colonoscopic examination.
• Bowel preparation for other diagnostic procedures: facilitates intestinal cleansing required before certain radiologic or endoscopic studies.

• Sodium Picosulfate is metabolized by colonic bacteria into an active compound that stimulates the enteric nerves, enhancing peristaltic activity and increasing fluid secretion into the intestinal lumen, thereby accelerating transit and softening stool.

Adverse reactions may occur with any stimulant laxative and are categorized by frequency.

Common Side Effects

• Abdominal cramps: mild to moderate discomfort in the abdomen.
• Diarrhea: loose, watery stools occurring after dosing.
• Nausea: feeling of queasiness without vomiting.
