Laxoberon, a stimulant laxative, is used in conditions that require increased colonic motility or bowel cleansing.

• Sodium picosulfate monohydrate acts locally on the colonic mucosa, where it irritates the lining and triggers the release of endogenous prostaglandins. This irritation stimulates peristaltic activity and enhances secretion of water and electrolytes into the lumen, resulting in accelerated transit and evacuation of fecal material.

Laxoberon may cause a range of adverse reactions, most of which are related to its stimulant activity on the colon.
