• Lecrolyn, a mast cell stabilizer, is used to manage ocular allergic conditions by preventing mast cell degranulation.
• Allergic conjunctivitis: alleviates ocular itching, redness, tearing, and swelling by stabilizing conjunctival mast cells.
• Seasonal allergic eye disease: provides symptom control during pollen or allergen exposure through inhibition of histamine release.

• Sodium Cromoglicate acts by binding to the surface of mast cells in the conjunctiva and stabilizing their membranes. This prevents calcium‑dependent degranulation, thereby inhibiting the release of histamine, leukotrienes, prostaglandins, and other inflammatory mediators that cause ocular allergy symptoms. By limiting these mediators, the drug also diminishes recruitment of eosinophils and other inflammatory cells to the ocular surface.

Topical ocular administration of Sodium Cromoglicate may be associated with local adverse reactions, most of which are mild and transient.

Common Side Effects

• Burning or stinging sensation after drop instillation.
