Lendin (Bilastine)

Bilastine ophthalmic solution is used to treat allergic eye conditions by antagonizing peripheral H1 receptors.

• Bilastine acts as a selective peripheral H1‑receptor antagonist. By binding to H1 receptors on mast cells and conjunctival blood vessels, it prevents histamine from triggering the cascade that leads to vasodilation, increased vascular permeability, and sensory nerve activation in ocular tissues. This blockade reduces the classic signs of allergic eye inflammation such as redness, itching, and tearing without crossing the blood‑brain barrier, thereby limiting central nervous system effects.

Bilastine ocular solution may cause adverse reactions, most of which are mild and transient.

Common Side Effects

• Eye irritation or burning sensation.
• Bitter taste after instillation.
• Transient headache.
• Mild conjunctival redness.

Serious or Rare Side Effects

• Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) with eyelid swelling.
• Ocular edema or increased intra‑ocular pressure.
