Amorolfine is an antifungal agent used to treat fungal infections of the nail unit.

• Amorolfine inhibits ergosterol synthesis by blocking the fungal enzymes Δ14‑reductase and Δ7‑Δ8‑isomerase. This disruption prevents formation of the essential sterol component of the fungal cell membrane, leading to increased membrane permeability and inhibition of fungal growth and replication. Without adequate ergosterol, the membrane cannot maintain its fluidity and function, ultimately causing cell death. Consequently, the topical application concentrates the effect at the nail plate and surrounding skin, providing targeted antifungal activity.

Topical application of Amorolfine may be associated with local skin reactions and, rarely, systemic effects.
