• Desloratadine is a second‑generation antihistamine that reduces histamine‑mediated symptoms in allergic conditions.

• Desloratadine selectively blocks peripheral H1 receptors, preventing histamine from binding and activating the cascade that leads to vasodilation, increased vascular permeability, and sensory nerve stimulation. By inhibiting this pathway, it diminishes the classic signs of allergic inflammation without readily crossing the blood‑brain barrier, which limits central nervous system effects.
