Lercamed (Lercanidipine Hydrochloride)

Lercamed, a calcium channel blocker, is indicated for conditions related to elevated arterial pressure.

• Essential hypertension: reduces systolic and diastolic blood pressure to target levels.
• Isolated systolic hypertension: helps control high systolic pressure in elderly patients.
• Secondary hypertension (as adjunct therapy): may be added to other antihypertensives to achieve adequate blood pressure control.

• Lercanidipine Hydrochloride selectively inhibits L‑type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle cells. By blocking calcium influx, it prevents contraction of arterial smooth muscle, leading to vasodilation of peripheral arteries. The resulting decrease in systemic vascular resistance lowers both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, providing antihypertensive effect without significant impact on cardiac conduction.

Common Side Effects

• Headache: mild to moderate pain often occurring after dose initiation.
