• Severe community‑acquired pneumonia: provides coverage against typical and atypical respiratory pathogens.
• Complicated intra‑abdominal infections: targets mixed aerobic and anaerobic organisms.
• Skin and soft‑tissue infections: effective against Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus species.
• Urinary tract infections: addresses Gram‑negative and some Gram‑positive uropathogens.
• Bacterial meningitis (when indicated): penetrates the cerebrospinal fluid to eradicate susceptible strains.

• Amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell‑wall synthesis by binding to penicillin‑binding proteins, leading to cell lysis. Clavulanic acid acts as a suicide inhibitor of beta‑lactamase enzymes, protecting amoxicillin from enzymatic degradation and thereby extending the antibacterial spectrum against beta‑lactamase‑producing organisms.

Adverse reactions may range from mild to severe and should be monitored during therapy.

• Beta‑lactam allergy history: avoid in patients with known hypersensitivity.
