Levocamed (Levocabastine Hydrochloride)

Levocamed, an antihistamine acting on the histamine H1‑receptor pathway, is used for the following nasal allergic conditions.

• Allergic rhinitis: alleviates nasal congestion, itching, sneezing, rhinorrhea and improves overall nasal comfort.

• Levocabastine hydrochloride acts as a selective histamine H1‑receptor antagonist. After intranasal administration, it binds to H1 receptors on the nasal mucosal cells, preventing histamine from triggering the cascade that leads to vasodilation, increased vascular permeability and sensory nerve activation. This blockade reduces the release of inflammatory mediators, thereby diminishing nasal congestion, itching, sneezing and rhinorrhea associated with allergic reactions in the upper airway.

Levocamed may cause adverse reactions, which are generally mild and reversible.
