Levodopa/Carbidopa Neuraxpharm (Carbidopa, Levodopa)

Levodopa/Carbidopa acts on the dopaminergic pathway to improve motor function in Parkinsonian disorders.

• Levodopa is a precursor that crosses the blood‑brain barrier and is decarboxylated to dopamine, replenishing central dopaminergic stores. Carbidopa inhibits peripheral aromatic L‑amino acid decarboxylase, preventing premature conversion of levodopa outside the brain, thereby increasing its central availability and reducing peripheral side effects such as nausea and vomiting.

Levodopa/Carbidopa may cause a range of adverse reactions, from mild to serious.

Common Side Effects

• Nausea: mild to moderate gastrointestinal upset.
• Orthostatic hypotension: dizziness upon standing.
• Dyskinesia: involuntary movements, especially at higher doses.

Serious or Rare Side Effects
