Levodrop (Levofloxacin)

Levofloxacin is indicated for bacterial infections of the eye, targeting the ocular surface and corneal tissues.

• Bacterial conjunctivitis: reduces bacterial load and accelerates resolution of redness, discharge, and irritation.
• Keratitis: eradicates causative bacteria, promoting corneal healing and preventing scarring.
• Acute bacterial ocular infection: provides broad‑spectrum coverage to control infection and preserve visual function.

• Levofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication and transcription. By blocking these targets, the drug prevents bacterial cell division and leads to bacterial death, delivering a bactericidal effect against susceptible ocular pathogens.

Levofloxacin may cause local ocular reactions and, rarely, systemic adverse events.
