Levofloxacin is indicated for several bacterial infections affecting the respiratory, urinary and skin systems.

• Community‑acquired bacterial pneumonia: effective treatment of the infection in adults.
• Acute bacterial sinusitis: rapid resolution of sinus inflammation caused by susceptible organisms.
• Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis: helps reduce symptoms and prevent further lung damage.
• Uncomplicated urinary tract infections: eradicates common uropathogens.
• Skin and soft tissue infections: clears infection in cutaneous lesions caused by susceptible bacteria.

• Levofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, and repair. By binding to these enzymes, it prevents the supercoiling and separation of DNA strands, leading to bacterial cell death and a bactericidal effect against susceptible organisms.
