• Lidocaine acts by reversibly binding to the intracellular portion of voltage‑gated sodium channels in neuronal membranes, stabilizing the inactive state of the channel. This prevents the initiation and propagation of action potentials, thereby blocking nerve impulse transmission and producing localized loss of sensation at the site of application.
