Lidocain Walter Ritter (Lidocaine)

Lidocaine topical acts on peripheral nerve endings to provide surface anesthesia for a range of minor skin conditions.

• Local anesthesia of intact skin: provides temporary loss of sensation for procedures such as needle insertion or minor surgery.
• Pain relief for minor skin irritations: reduces discomfort from insect bites, sunburn, or mild abrasions.
• Itching relief from superficial dermatologic conditions: alleviates pruritus associated with allergic reactions or minor dermatitis.

• Lidocaine blocks voltage‑gated sodium channels in neuronal membranes, preventing the influx of sodium ions required for depolarisation. By stabilising the neuronal membrane, it inhibits the initiation and propagation of nerve impulses, resulting in loss of sensation in the applied area. The effect is local and reversible once the drug is cleared from the tissue. Topical application limits systemic absorption, focusing the action on cutaneous nerve endings.

Topical lidocaine may cause local and, rarely, systemic adverse reactions.

Serious or Rare Side Effects
