• Limerik (piperacillin/tazobactam) is used to treat bacterial infections affecting various organ systems.
• Complicated intra‑abdominal infections: provides broad‑spectrum coverage including anaerobes.
• Hospital‑acquired pneumonia: targets resistant Gram‑negative and Gram‑positive pathogens.
• Community‑acquired pneumonia: covers typical and atypical organisms.
• Urinary tract infections: effective against complicated UTIs caused by susceptible bacteria.
• Sepsis and septic shock: used as empiric therapy for severe systemic infections.

• Piperacillin inhibits bacterial cell‑wall synthesis by binding to penicillin‑binding proteins, while tazobactam blocks beta‑lactamase enzymes that would otherwise degrade piperacillin, thereby extending its antibacterial spectrum against beta‑lactamase‑producing organisms.

Adverse reactions may occur with any intravenous antibiotic.
