• Linagliptin reversibly binds to the active site of dipeptidyl peptidase‑4 (DPP‑4), preventing the enzyme from degrading the incretin hormones glucagon‑like peptide‑1 (GLP‑1) and glucose‑dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). Elevated incretin levels enhance glucose‑dependent insulin secretion and suppress glucagon release, leading to lower post‑prandial and fasting plasma glucose concentrations.

• Upper respiratory tract infection: mild symptoms such as sore throat or nasal congestion.
• Nasopharyngitis: inflammation of the nasal passages and throat.
