• Pregabalin binds selectively to the α2‑δ subunit of voltage‑gated calcium channels in the central nervous system. This binding reduces calcium influx into presynaptic neurons, which in turn decreases the release of excitatory neurotransmitters such as glutamate, norepinephrine, and substance P, leading to reduced neuronal hyperexcitability associated with pain, seizures, and anxiety.

Pregabalin may cause a range of adverse reactions, from mild to severe.

• Dizziness: sensation of light‑headedness or unsteadiness.
• Somnolence: increased sleepiness or fatigue.

• Hepatic dysfunction: abnormal liver enzyme elevations.
