Nurofen Mint (Ibuprofen)

Nurofen Mint, an NSAID, acts on inflammatory pathways to provide analgesic and antipyretic effects.

• Headache: alleviates mild to moderate pain associated with tension or vascular headaches.
• Dental pain: reduces discomfort following dental procedures or toothache.
• Musculoskeletal pain: eases aches from strains, sprains and minor joint inflammation.
• Fever: lowers elevated body temperature in febrile states.
• Menstrual discomfort: lessens cramping and lower‑back pain linked to menstruation.

• Ibuprofen inhibits cyclo‑oxygenase (COX‑1 and COX‑2) enzymes, decreasing the synthesis of prostaglandins that mediate inflammation, pain and fever. This reduction in prostaglandin levels dampens peripheral nociceptor sensitisation and lowers the hypothalamic set‑point for body temperature.

Adverse reactions to ibuprofen may vary in frequency and severity.

Common Side Effects

• Gastrointestinal discomfort: mild nausea, dyspepsia or heartburn.
• Headache: transient headache not related to the condition being treated.
• Dizziness: light‑headed feeling without loss of balance.
• Rash: mild skin redness or itching.
• Elevated blood pressure: slight increase in systolic or diastolic readings.

Serious or Rare Side Effects

• Gastrointestinal ulceration or bleeding: painful ulcers or bloody stools.
• Severe skin reactions: Stevens‑Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis.
• Renal impairment: sudden decrease in urine output or swelling.
• Anaphylaxis: rapid onset of hives, swelling and breathing difficulty.
• Hepatotoxicity: abnormal liver enzymes or jaundice.

When using Nurofen Mint, consider the following safety measures:

• Assess risk: evaluate the patient ’s history of gastro‑intestinal ulcer or bleeding.
• Concomitant NSAIDs: avoid the combination with other NSAIDs or aspirin to reduce bleeding risk.
• Cardiovascular risk: monitor for signs of hypertension or cardiovascular events.
• Renal function: check baseline renal function especially in elderly patients.
• Pregnancy and lactation: use only under medical guidance if necessary during pregnancy or breast‑feeding.
• Store at ambient temperature: keep the tablet in the original pack and protect from moisture.
