Indications & Clinical Uses

Ocplex is a recombinant coagulation factor that replaces deficient clotting activity in the intrinsic pathway of the coagulation cascade.

  • Hemophilia B: Provides factor IX activity to control and prevent bleeding episodes.
  • Acquired factor IX deficiency: Restores clotting function during surgical procedures or trauma.
  • Peri‑operative management: Used to maintain hemostasis in patients with known factor IX deficiency undergoing surgery.

How It Works

  • Ocplex contains recombinant human factor IX, a vitamin‑dependent serine protease that binds to phospholipid surfaces and participates in the activation of factor X to Xa in the intrinsic coagulation pathway. By restoring factor IX activity, it re‑establishes thrombin generation and fibrin clot formation, correcting the underlying deficiency.

Side Effects

Adverse reactions reported with recombinant factor IX products are generally mild to moderate and reflect immune or infusion‑related events.
